Western Market opened its "doors" on September 11th 2004. The dedication and official opening took place the following month on October 9th, 2004. Council Member Jim Graham was on site to cut the ribbon and help launch this venture.

In October the Dupont Current, Georgetown Current and Northwest Current printed an article about the grand opening.
